Yogurt Cake: The Super Easy Recipe In Pictures.

Endorsed by children at breakfast or snack time, yogurt cake is one of those basics that everyone loves. With the arrival of sunny days, we suggest you to decline this great classic in the form of a cake, even easier to take away for your spring picnics. Here is the recipe for yogurt cake in pictures.

Ingredients

Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare a yogurt cake for 6 people:

1 plain yogurt
1 pot of sugar
1 sachet of vanilla sugar
2.5 pots of flour
1 sachet of baking powder
2 large eggs
½ pot of olive oil
1 knob of butter for the mold

Note: as in the classic yogurt cake recipe, you must keep the yogurt pot to measure the other ingredients.

In this cake, it is possible to use the oil of your choice. However, I recommend using olive oil as it is better for your health. Rest assured, using a mild olive oil does not give a strange taste to this cake.

Preparation of the dough.

1- Pour the plain yogurt into a mixing bowl.
2- Rinse and dry the yogurt container thoroughly so that it can be used as a measuring cup.
3- Add one container of sugar and the vanilla sugar and mix well using a whisk or wooden spoon.
4- Then, incorporate the flour and baking powder, alternating these dry ingredients with the whole eggs as soon as the cake batter becomes difficult to mix.
5- Finally, add the olive oil and mix carefully to incorporate it well.

Note: The batter for your yogurt cake should be smooth and homogeneous, as shown in the photo below.

Variations of the basic recipe.

Based on this recipe for plain yogurt cake, you can imagine all kinds of delicious variations.

Firstly, you can flavor the batter with different flavors such as grated lemon zest, bitter almond extract, tonka bean, or orange blossom water.

You can also add different toppings to this soft cake such as sautéed apple cubes in butter, pieces of pear, raisins, or chocolate chips.

To prevent the chocolate chips from sinking to the bottom of the cake pan, you can use the following trick: coat the chocolate chips in a spoonful of flour before incorporating them into the batter.

This will result in a delicious cake with chocolate chips that children love. But of course, the suggestions above are far from exhaustive. This soft, neutral-tasting cake allows for all kinds of creativity, so let your culinary imagination run wild!

Baking a cake.

1- Preheat your oven to 180°C.

2- Butter a cake tin or line it with parchment paper before pouring in the batter.

3- Bake the yogurt cake for about 45 minutes at 180°C until it is well risen and golden.

Note: this cake is cooked when a knife blade inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

4- Let this cake with chocolate chips or plain cool down before unmolding it.
