The Cocoa And Cherry Cake: A Delicious Recipe.

The cocoa and cherry cake is a delicious dessert, with a flavor reminiscent of a Black Forest cake. But it is much easier to make as it is based on a yogurt cake. We invite you to discover this surprisingly simple recipe.

Ingredients

Here are the necessary ingredients to make a cocoa and cherry cake for 6 people:

- One plain yogurt.
- 3 eggs.
- Half a yogurt pot of oil.
- 2 yogurt pots of sugar.
- 2 yogurt pots of flour.
- Half a packet of baking powder.
- One packet of vanilla sugar.
- 30g of unsweetened cocoa.
- One untreated lemon.
- One untreated orange.
- 200g of pitted cherries (frozen or in a jar).

Note: If you want to transform this simple moist cake into a beautiful Black Forest birthday cake, also prepare whipped cream and a dark chocolate bar for decoration.

Preparation of flavored sugar.

The cocoa and cherry cake is very easy to prepare based on a Yogurt Cake:

1- Pour the plain yogurt into a bowl and keep the container to measure the ingredients.

2- Measure the sugar and pour it into the bowl of a food processor.

3- Take the zest of half a lemon and half an orange using a peeler.

4- Blend the zest strips with the sugar in the food processor, to obtain a colored and flavored sugar.

This trick allows you to flavor cakes with citrus zest much faster than using a grater or microplane.

Preparation of the cake batter

You just have to prepare the cocoa and cherry cake batter:

1- Mix the yogurt with the citrus-flavored sugar, vanilla sugar, and oil.

2- In another bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and cocoa.

3- Incorporate these dry ingredients into the batter alternately with the whole eggs.

4- Mix well to obtain a smooth batter with a beautiful chocolate color.

5- Finally, incorporate the cherries after thawing and draining them beforehand.

Cake baking

1- Preheat your oven to 200°C (Th.7).

2- Pour the batter into a round cake pan.
You can use a silicone mold for easy unmolding or a regular mold lined with parchment paper.

3- Bake the cocoa and cherry cake for 30 minutes.

4- Let it cool before unmolding it onto a serving plate.

Black Forest-style decor

For more indulgence or to create a visually appealing birthday cake, you can decorate the cocoa and cherry cake like a Black Forest cake:

1- Once the cake has completely cooled, cover it with whipped cream.

2- Sprinkle the whipped cream with small shavings of dark chocolate made using a peeler.

3- Serve immediately to prevent the whipped cream from deflating.
