Piste Noire: What Is The Value Of The Police Series With Constance Labbé And Thibault De Montalembert?

From Monday, January 23, France 2 broadcasts Piste noire, a new police series in 6 episodes that takes place in a ski resort in the heart of the Alps. We have listed for you three good reasons to watch this new fiction with Constance Labbé and Thibault de Montalembert.

1- For the mountain setting

The mountains seem to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration for French crime series writers! After the series Zone blanche which takes place in the Vosges and, more recently, the mini-series Le Meilleur d'entre nous broadcast on France 3, France Télévisions continues its momentum with a new series to be discovered starting tonight.

In Piste noire, Boris Arnoux, a ski champion, returns to the village of Les Clairies after winning an international downhill race. His wife Charlotte throws a party at a grand hotel to celebrate his victory. But during the party, a caravan suddenly catches fire in a seasonal camp below the resort. A charred body is discovered in the rubble.

The young gendarme Émilie Karras is dispatched from Lyon to the ski resort to come and help the local gendarme Loïc Servoz. The snowy landscapes at the foot of Mont Blanc provide a luminous setting for this dark case. The filming of the series, which lasted three months, was indeed held in Morzine in Haute-Savoie.

2- For the casting

This 6-episode crime series is also worth watching for its cast, starting with its endearing gendarme duo.

The heroine of Piste noire, Émilie Karras, is played by the talented Constance Labbé. You will surely recognize this actress who has already played cops on television. In particular, she replaced Hélène de Fougerolles in the last seasons of Balthazar on TF1.

To solve this case, she teams up with Loïc Servoz, played by Thibault de Montalembert. The actor, well known to viewers for his role in the series Ten Percent on France 2, credibly plays here a gruff and somewhat disillusioned gendarme.

3- For the more complex scenario

The series Piste noire, to be discovered starting tonight on France 2, could be just another smoothly run police investigation set in snowy mountains. But as the investigation progresses, the two protagonists gradually reveal their flaws and are caught up in an emotionally charged personal story.

Emilie Karras returns to her native region much against her will as she is estranged from her family. And of course, the investigation gets tougher when members of her family seem involved in the case...

As for Loïc Servoz, he is overwhelmed by the drug affair and the influence peddling that is going on in his mountains.

The muted atmosphere of the powdery snow in the resort of Morzine-Avoriaz provides a setting full of contrasts for the personal dramas and local shenanigans that the two heroes face. This snowy setting is as bright as the story is dark.

If the 3 good reasons stated above have made you want to watch this never-before-seen series, know that Piste noire airs starting tonight, Monday, January 23 at 9:10 pm on France 2.
