Oqee Ciné: A Free Vod Service For Freebox Subscribers

Good news for owners of a Freebox Revolution, Pop or Devialet! You can now watch movies and series on your box at no extra cost thanks to Oqee Ciné, Free's free video on demand service. Here is everything you need to know about this new service included in your Freebox package.

Free launches into free VOD

As of March 7, 2023, Free has just launched a free video on demand service called Oqee Ciné. After having been a pioneer in SVOD (paid) in France since 2008, Free is the first operator to offer its Freebox subscribers a catalog of free TV series and movies.

The operator is following in the footsteps of major television groups such as TF1, M6, France Télévisions and the Molotov TV and Pluto TV offerings. Despite the failure of the Salto platform in France, the operator hopes to compete with streaming behemoths such as Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+.

Don't hesitate to discover this new service on your Freebox! It won't cost you anything more than your usual subscription, as it's funded by ads embedded in the programs.

How does Oqee Ciné work?

Oqee Ciné is a service available for free and exclusively for most Freebox subscribers. Only the Player Mini 4K and Player Crystal V5 are not compatible with this new service for the moment.

You can access it :
- either directly on your TV through your Revolution, Pop or Devialet Player (in the Videos section)
- or on your smartphone or tablet using the Oqee by Free application
- or on your connected television such as Apple TV or Android TV.

To note: if you have a compatible player, it may be necessary to restart your box to enjoy this new service.

What movies and series can I see on Oqee Ciné?

At the announcement of this new service, Free boasted that it was the first operator to offer its subscribers 'such a wide range of movie series, accessible at no extra cost and unlimited'.

At launch, Oqee Ciné offers over 300 movies and series, or 1,000 hours of programming that can be viewed at any time.

Thanks to partnerships with several major production studios, there is something for every taste and audience, from family blockbusters to horror movies, including youth programs like Stuart Little 2 and recent series like Taken and StartUp or in a more British style A Very English Scandal...

You'll even find classic movies like Close Encounters, Memoirs of a Geisha and the unforgettable romantic comedy Sleepless in Seattle!

In this sector where competition is tough, this newcomer can't compete with the big boys. Prime Video has hit the big time with the TV adaptation of the video game The Last of Us and by producing the world's most expensive series based on Tolkien's universe The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power! Of course, you won't discover such programs for free on your Freebox...

But, even if you won't always find what you're looking for in this catalog, don't forget to check Oqee Ciné regularly. Free has already announced that dozens of new content will be added to this catalog every month.
