Watermelon And Rose Juice: An Anti-waste Recipe

If you have mistakenly bought an unripe watermelon, do not throw away the flesh of this slightly bland fruit. With the help of a blender and a few common ingredients, it is possible to transform it into a delicious refreshing drink. We invite you to discover the recipe for rose watermelon juice.

Ingredients

Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare watermelon and rose juice for 4 people:

3/4 of a watermelon
2 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons of rose water

Note: For this recipe, as well as for all drink or dessert recipes flavored with rose water, you must absolutely use a high-quality organic food-grade rose water. Be careful not to use certain cosmetic products that contain additives like alcohol!

Watermelon cutting

The preparation of rose watermelon juice is very simple. Fresh watermelon juice is a refreshing drink that I discovered during a trip to Malaysia and that I like to prepare in the summer.

The first step is to cut your watermelon into slices. Remove the skin and then cut the flesh of the watermelon into cubes.

If you have bought a seedless watermelon, you don't have to do anything else. Otherwise, remove as many seeds as possible before blending the fruit flesh in a blender.

Mixing the ingredients

In the bowl of your blender, mix the watermelon cubes with 2 tablespoons of organic rose water and 2 tablespoons of liquid honey.

To prepare this watermelon juice with rose, I recommend using a honey with a mild flavor such as acacia honey or wildflower honey.

If you don't like drinks that are too sweet, you can reduce the amount of honey. In fact, if you have found a ripe enough watermelon, you don't need to add honey or any other sweetening ingredient to this recipe.

As for me, I added honey to compensate for the bland flavor of a not-so-good watermelon. When preparing this type of juice, remember to taste the fruit and adjust the amount of honey to the ripeness of your watermelon.

Adding rose water is another trick that helps soften the slightly green taste of immature watermelons.

Preparation of watermelon juice

Once all the ingredients are ready and mixed in the bowl of the blender, all you have to do is blend them. Using a blender is preferable to achieve the right texture, as shown in the photo below.

Blend for 1 to 2 minutes, taking breaks every 30 seconds to protect the motor of your blender, until you get a smooth and frothy smoothie texture.

When your juice is ready, place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to serve it chilled. I also recommend preparing it on the same day and consuming it quickly to enjoy its taste and benefits.
