Orange Semolina Cake: A Delicious Recipe

The orange semolina cake is a dessert as easy as it is delicious! With its delicate scent of orange, honey, and orange blossom, this very moist cake is reminiscent of oriental pastries. We invite you to discover this fairly simple recipe that needs to be prepared in advance.

Ingredients

Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare an orange semolina cake for 6 people:

5 organic oranges.
4 eggs.
75 g of sugar.
100 g of almond powder.
100 g of fine wheat semolina.
2 generous tablespoons of honey.
2 tablespoons of sugar.
2 tablespoons of orange blossom water.
a knob of butter for the mold.

Orange Preparation

For this Semolina Cake recipe with orange, both the juice of the oranges and the zest of one orange are used.

1- Wash an orange, dry it, and grate its zest. Set aside.

2- Then squeeze all the oranges and set the juice aside.

2- In a mixing bowl, whisk the yolks with 75 g of sugar.

3- Add grated orange zest, almond powder, fine semolina, and 12 cl of orange juice.

4- Mix everything well then let it rest for 20 minutes at room temperature to allow the semolina to swell.

5- Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold them into the previous mixture.

Semolina cake baking

Preparation of orange blossom syrup

1- In a saucepan, mix the remaining orange juice with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of honey.

2- Bring this mixture to a boil.

3- Let it simmer gently for a minute then turn off the heat.

Cake finishing.

1- Let the cake rest for 20 minutes after taking it out of the oven.

2- Flip the orange semolina cake onto a serving platter and soak it with orange blossom syrup.

3- You will likely need to do this in several stages. Pour some of the syrup over the cake and wait for it to be absorbed before adding more. Use a kitchen brush to spread the syrup evenly to the edges of the cake.

4- Place the cake in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours before serving. You can also prepare it the day before and leave it to chill overnight.

Note: to serve this cake like an oriental pastry, cut it into squares or diamonds.
