The Coupe Icare: The Celebration Of Paragliding And Aerial Sports.
The Coupe Icare, organized every year in Isère in September, is the largest global event for free flight. This grand celebration, which highlights paragliding and aerial sports, offers multiple activities: acrobatics demonstrations, a free flight film festival, and even a costume contest for pilots!
A great international meeting
The Coupe Icare is the most famous air sports event in the world.
Created in 1974, it now brings together 10,000 pilots, 200 international exhibitors, and 75,000 spectators!
This event takes place every year in September. It features over 20,000 m2 of entertainment and exhibitions across 2 sites: the villages of Saint-Hilaire-du-Touvet and Lumbin in Isère.
It is the largest gathering of ultra-light air sports practitioners (paragliding, hang gliding, paramotoring, microlights, Kitesurfing, and kite flying) in the world.
For four days, pilots from around the world meet in Saint-Hilaire, a small village perched at 1000 m altitude, to launch themselves from its cliff and land in Lumbin.
Animations for everyone
The Coupe Icare attracts between 70,000 and 80,000 people every year thanks to a multitude of public events.
Spectators, with their heads up, can admire the costumes of hang gliding and paragliding pilots and enjoy aerobatic demonstrations performed by the best experts in free flight.
But the show doesn't just take place in the sky of the Alps! Other events are organized on the ground, including a free flight film festival, dedicated spaces for kites, and activities for children.

The Coupe Icare 2023 takes place from September 19th to 24th on the site of Saint Hilaire du Touvet – Lumbin, in the Chartreuse massif, 30 minutes away from Grenoble and Chambéry.
Once again this year, you will be able to discover free flight in all its forms and states.

Practical information
The Coupe Icare takes place from September 19th to 24th, 2023 - Airshow on September 23rd and 24th, at the site of Saint Hilaire du Touvet - Lumbin.
Free entry for children under 12 and in Lumbin.
Free Icare Expo exhibition on Thursday.
Note: Once again this year, the organization is providing free shuttles between the different areas of the event and the parking lots in the valley.
