A Christmas Market On The Champs-elysées: An Exceptional Event

At the end of November and the beginning of December, several Christmas markets take place in the capital, place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, place Saint-Sulpice, but also on the Esplanade de la Défense. Since 2008, Parisians can also enjoy a Christmas market on the Champs-Elysées.

Christmas on the Champs-Elysées

The first Christmas market on the Champs-Elysées took place from November 20 to December 31, 2008 between the Rond-Point and the Concorde.

Europe was the main theme of this first edition, in tribute to the French Presidency of the European Union.

The most beautiful avenue in the world, illuminated for the occasion in the colors of Europe, hosted a Christmas market where about twenty countries of the European Union were represented.

This year, this magical event will be held from November 15, 2015 to January 4, 2016. The market will be open from 10:30 am to midnight (and even 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays).

Beautiful illuminations

Every year for the holidays, the Champs-Elysées are dressed in light.
These magical illuminations remain in place until the end of January.

Note: for the past few years, the Parisian illuminations have been using new generation diodes that reduce the energy bill shared by merchants and the Paris City Hall by 70%.
