The Graines de jardin Festival is the first entirely free gardening festival in France.
This plant festival has been organized every year since 2009 by the Rouen Normandy Metropolis and the City of Rouen.
It brings together nearly a hundred exhibitors from France and Europe. For a weekend, they set up their stands in the remarkable setting of the Jardin des Plantes in Rouen.
The objective of this event is to raise awareness among the people of Rouen about the pleasures of environmentally friendly gardening, nature protection, and the issues of biodiversity and sustainable development.
This festive and completely free event is for everyone, whether you are a plant and gardening lover or just curious.
Edition 2023 -> Edition 2023
The 14th edition of the Graines de Jardin Festival invites you to the Jardin des plantes de Rouen on May 27th and 28th, 2023.
More than 50,000 visitors are expected for this 2016 edition on the theme of Asia. For the occasion, a Chinese garden has been specially created by the gardeners of the City of Rouen!
This year, the festival offers you a distant journey to a continent where floral art is sublime: come and discover the delicacy of ikebana, the art of bonsai, or the culture of ginkgo biloba!
You will of course find a local and organic market, and a plant exchange. You can benefit from the advice of experts and participate in practical and creative horticultural workshops, free of charge and led by professional gardeners.
Eight advisory workshops will be specifically dedicated to Asian plants such as peonies, bamboo, hydrangeas, Japanese maples, epimediums, wisteria, Nashi, and turmeric.
As every year, animations and shows will also be on the program, including donkey rides, street performances, concerts, and commented thematic visits allowing you to (re)discover the treasures of the Jardin des plantes (by registration only).
