The Christmas Market Of Ribeauvillé : A Medieval Atmosphere
The town of Ribeauvillé nestled in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards is a beautiful medieval city. At the approach of the end of the year celebrations, the 'City of the Ménétriers' invites you to go back in time on the occasion of its medieval Christmas market: a most picturesque festival!
A festival as in the Middle Ages
Like many communes in Alsace, Ribeauvillé organizes its Christmas market every year during the month of December.
But the one nicknamed the 'City of the Ménétriers' differs from the neighboring towns by immersing its visitors in a medieval atmosphere! The towers, the ramparts and the three castles of the town indeed offer a perfect period setting.
To complete the picture, multiple animations will transport you to the Middle Ages: fire jugglers, troubadours and storytellers, costumed balladeers and merchants, dances of lords and gentlewomen... This market with its original atmosphere is very popular and welcomes between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors per day!

At the Ribeauvillé Christmas market crafts and local products are also in the spotlight. You can admire Christmas cribs and Advent wreaths and enjoy mulled wine and other medieval drinks. Savory and sweet treats will also give you a taste of Christmas!
After browsing the market, where it's not uncommon to run into Santa and his elves, be sure to discover the Christmas Fountains Trail. It will lead you from the Jardin de Ville to the charms of the Ville Haute, with the Ribeaupierre manants as your guides.
