Opj Series On France 3: 5 Things To Know About This Crime Drama

After being premiered in prime time over two evenings, season 5 of the series OPJ is now being aired on France 3 during daytime. This police drama starring Yaëlle Trulès invites you to tune in at 2:45 PM for new investigations under the sun of La Réunion. Here are 5 things to know about this successful TV show.

This crime series has changed its setting.

If you haven't been following the "OPJ" series from the beginning, you might not know that this crime drama changed its filming location after season 1.

Originally launched in 2019, the series was set in Nouméa, New Caledonia! The format was also quite different as season 1 consisted of 50 episodes, each 26 minutes long...

Starting with season 2, the crime series has been filmed in Réunion. This change of scenery is linked to the Covid health crisis and the access restrictions to New Caledonia's territory.

The OPJ series is entirely produced in Réunion.

Today, one of the unique features of the OPJ series is that it is entirely made in Reunion Island. This detective drama is not only filmed in this idyllic setting, but also recruits all its teams locally.

Marine Hervé, who directs the show, is a filmmaker from the Reunionese audiovisual sector. On the island, this TV series employs more than a hundred roles, 500 extras, and 115 local technicians.

In short, OPJ is not only a series made in France but also a pure product of Reunion Island! On this topic, actress Yaëlle Trulès stated in an interview: "Our originality is our personality, that of our island and its landscapes."

This choice is part of France Télévisions group's commitment to anchor its creations in all the regions of the French overseas territories and mainland France. This strategy proves to be successful since the beauty of the setting partly explains the success of this fiction. Viewers thoroughly enjoy the magnificent landscapes of the island, which provide the backdrop for the investigations of Commander Clarissa Hoarau and her team.

The brand new Season 5 currently airing fully embraces the exoticism. The investigations take place in the vanilla plantations of the Hauts, in the heart of the famous Diagonale des Fous race, or within a moringue club, a Reunionese sport combining combat, dance, and traditional music.

3- The series OPJ is changing its broadcast time in 2024.

Warning: starting from Thursday, April 18, 2024, fans of the series OPJ will meet their favorite detectives not in prime time but during the day!

After launching season 5 in prime time over two evenings, on March 28 and April 4, the broadcast of this brand-new fifth season continues on France 3 from Monday to Friday at 2:45 pm.

The double episode titled Main Courante kicks off this new time slot. This investigation also marks the first appearance of a new forensic pathologist, played by Reunionese actor Laurent Robert.

There are still seven new investigations to discover.

Viewers will need to get used to the new afternoon schedule. Starting April 18, they can watch the continuation of season 5 daily at 2:45 PM on France 3.

This brand-new season still has seven investigations to offer, which will be broadcast on channel three until Friday, April 26, 2024.

In today's episode "Main courante," a couple enjoys the stunning setting of La Réunion to get engaged at the foot of a waterfall. However, the marriage proposal goes awry when a large dog bursts in with a human hand in its mouth...

By the time Commander Clarissa Hoarau's team identifies the owner of the hand, it's too late: the man, in his sixties, has already passed away, and his body is found in the vanilla plantations of the Hauts. Is this a case of vanilla pod theft gone wrong, or is the victim involved in a darker story?

Season 6 of OPJ is already planned.

Good news for fans of this police series led by Yaëlle Trulès! The sixth season of OPJ is already in production.

For this sixth season, two Reunionese writers have joined the writing team. Over the seasons, OPJ has become the series of a territory, a fiction whose plots are fed by local traditions.

It is not surprising that this fiction was renewed for a season 6. It is one of the most popular on France Télévisions channels and ranks in the top 3 of the group's audience ratings.

This series has been so successful that France Télévisions has decided to broadcast season 6 exclusively in prime time. Viewers will once again have to change their habits to watch the 12 episodes of season 6, which means six new investigations...
