Lemon Festival 2022: The Results In Figures

The results of the 2022 Lemon Festival are very positive. This must-attend event on the Côte d'Azur was a success, despite fears that it would be cancelled at the last minute due to the health situation. We offer you a summary of this edition in a few figures.

More than 55,000 visitors

The Lemon Festival 2022 ended on Sunday, February 27. At the time of drawing up the balance sheet of this 88th edition on the theme Operas and Dances, the participants and the Mentonnais merchants are very satisfied with this edition.

For its return after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival was unanimously approved by both local and foreign tourists.

With more than 55,000 tickets sold in 2022, the Lemon festival of Menton was a great success this year.

Even if the festivities were lightened compared to previous years, with fewer structures and fewer tons of citrus fruits used, visitors came in large numbers. An influx that could even be described as pharaonic ;-)

10 million euros in financial benefits

The financial impact of the 2022 Lemon festival is estimated at 10 million euros for the region.

These festivities, placed under the sign of dance and opera this year, have been a real boon for local hoteliers, with a fill rate of establishments of 100% during the weekend.

In addition, the traders present in the Boviès gardens are very satisfied with their turnover, whether in the sale of souvenirs, olive oil, lemons or citrus-based products.

It must be said that this year, access to these gardens was free. Visitors could therefore come freely admire the sculptures made with oranges and lemons.

This 'Open Gardens' initiative should be repeated next year.

80 tons of citrus fruit put on sale

80 tons of citrus were needed to create the structures for the Bovies Gardens and the floats for the Golden Fruit Corsos.

Normally, it takes more than 150 tons of citrus (delivered to Menton from Spain) to decorate the floats and sculptures displayed in the gardens.

As every year at the end of the Lemon Festival, these oranges and lemons are put on sale at a discounted price, €2 per 3 kilos.

To take advantage of this promotion, all lovers of orange juice, orange jelly and lemon curd with lemon have an appointment Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5, 2022 from 9am in front of the Casino Barrière in Menton.

The sale will take place over one or two days depending on available stocks. It's time to stock up on citrus for a vitamin-packed juice treatment!

To be noted: the theme of the 2023 edition has not yet been decided. It will depend on the possibilities of recovering the structures that were not used this year. During the lemon festival of Menton, nothing is lost, everything is transformed!
