Nature Festival Edition 2026

For 2026, the Fête de la Nature will celebrate its 20th edition from May 20 to 25, 2026, throughout France.

Presentation of the Festival

Created in 2007 at the initiative of the French Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the magazine Terre Sauvage, the Nature Festival has benefited since its inception from the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development.

More than 40 partners involved in nature conservation, including major associations, companies like EDF, Mutuelle Générale Environnement & Territoires, RTE, as well as institutions and local actors like Natureparif, the regional agency for nature and biodiversity in Île-de-France, support the 2013 edition of the Nature Festival.

This year, the Nature Festival invites young and old alike to discover all kinds of small creatures, those that fly, crawl, or jump, whether they are terrestrial or marine, nocturnal or diurnal.

Insects and other small creatures are the true architects and gardeners of nature (pollination, predation of other small creatures, food for many animals, recycling of droppings, corpses, and other waste, etc.).

Yet, we leave them very little space around us, and they are often considered undesirable!

In cities, in the countryside, or by the sea, numerous events highlighting them will allow everyone to take a closer look at the smallest of animals.

Five days of celebration

Every year in May, the Nature Festival invites people from mainland France and overseas territories to celebrate nature for five days through thousands of free events organized in nature and across the entire territory.

Initiated by professional and volunteer naturalists, local authorities, associations, as well as passionate individuals, teachers, gardeners, etc., these events provide an opportunity for everyone to (re)discover nature and marvel at its beauty.

Five days of celebration to encourage participation from all, the general public, families, schools, leisure centers, employees of companies, public institutions... Each participant is invited, if they wish, to become an organizer by proposing their own nature event.

Several common challenges

Through thousands of events organized across France, the Fête de la Nature also highlights the major current environmental challenges:

  • Preservation of biodiversity,

  • Protection of ecosystems,

  • Awareness of living beings and transmission of knowledge related to nature.

The event invites everyone to reconnect with their environment and to collectively reflect on the ecological issues of tomorrow.
