The Sainte-baume Velorail: A Ride In The Heart Of Provence

What is a velorail?
Have you ever ridden a vélorail? This funny steel contraption, equipped with bicycle saddles and seats moves forward on the rails of an old railroad...by the strength of your calves!
More user-friendly than a bicycle, it can accommodate up to 5 passengers and offers an original means of transport to discover the countryside with family or friends.
What is the route?
The vélorail du massif de la Sainte-Baume in the Var region runs on a charming old railway between Pourcieux and Saint-Maximin.
The ride is 15 km in all (round trip) and includes viaducts, bridges, a tunnel and an old-time station.
If you are not afraid to pedal, this unusual machine will offer you an original way to ride in the heart of Provence Var.
How long does the ride last?
Once installed on this funny vehicle, it's off for a 2 hour ride in the middle of nature.
The departures are at fixed times, like the trains. Latecomers can't be expected.
Therefore, be on time for the meeting at the station. Appointments are set at 9:30am, 1pm or 3:30pm in summer.
Who can participate?
Each velorail can take up to 5 people on board.
Please note: you must be at least 2 people taller than 1.40 m to be able to pedal and move the velo-rail.
Everyone, from infants to senior citizens, can then join the adventure.
On the other hand, the site is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or disabled people in wheelchairs.
For safety reasons, a responsible adult companion is required in each velorail.
As the majority of the route is in direct sunlight, remember to bring hats and sunglasses, sun cream and bottles of water.
Animals are not allowed.

The Sainte-Baume velorail ride is done from Pourcieux in the Var.
The village of Pourcieux is 1 km from exit 33 of the motorway and 8 km from Saint-Maximin.

Price: 40 € the rental of a velorail for 5 people maximum (electric assistance included).
