Mandelieu: A Romantic Destination For Valentine's Day

What if, for Valentine's Day, you offered mimosa instead of roses? The town of Mandelieu on the French Riviera is the capital of the mimosa. It is also the ideal destination for a romantic stay in the sun. We have selected for you 5 things to do in Mandelieu.

1- Visit the Castle of La Napoule

The Chateau de La Napoule is a perfect visit to celebrate Valentine's Day for lovers since it is also called the Lovers' Castle!

This nickname is related to the history of its owners: the American squires Henry and Marie Clews.

It was in 1919 that this Couple decided to settle on the Mediterranean coast and discovered the then partially ruined Château de La Napoule.

Marie, who is an architect and landscape designer, has been leading the castle's renovation project for nearly 20 years.

On his side, Henry (who is a sculptor) populates their property with zany characters and fantastic animals that give this place its special atmosphere.

The Couple frequented the high society of the French Riviera and organized sumptuous parties in the castle and gardens for the European aristocracy and American expatriates in the region.

2- Take a guided walk on the Sentier du Littoral

Another way to discover the Lovers' Castle is to book a guided walk on the Sentier du Littoral which runs alongside the castle.

On Valentine's Day (which falls on Monday, February 14, 2022 this year), this guided tour is offered at 1:30 p.m. with registration at the Tourist Office.

The Mandelieu Tourist Office is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.

3- Take an electric boat ride on the Siagne river

Another even more original way to celebrate Valentine's Day in the commune of Mandelieu is to book a mini-cruise on an electric boat on the Siagne.

The electric boat rides without a license are offered by two companies:

- Au Fil de l'Eau Mandelieu: departure from the pontoon located at the Parking Robinson
- Electric Boat : departure from the pontoon located at the Pullman Parking level.

Thanks to this river trip on the Siagne, you'll think you've been transported to Venice (the city of lovers par excellence!) without leaving the French Riviera!

You will be able to experience this little cruise on your own in a beautiful setting, without being disturbed by the engine noise since the boats are electric.

4- Go for a ride in a 2CV in the Tanneron massif

In February, the Tanneron massif takes on a magnificent bright yellow color, due to the many mimosas that grow there.

It is in this fairytale setting that the Mademoiselle Riviera company offers you a ride in a charming 2CV!

Take the mimosa road in a Deudeuche to discover the French Riviera in a new, friendly and authentic way.

This ride, on compulsory reservation (see link below), allows you to discover the mimosa in full bloom and the magnificent landscapes of the Tanneron massif to live an unforgettable Valentine's Day.

5- Book a romantic meal

Finally, your Valentine's Day celebration wouldn't be complete without a meal for two.

You can count on the many restaurants and hotels in the commune of Mandelieu to offer this type of service.

On the port of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, you will easily find several restaurants with sea view.
