Medieval Festival Of Provins 2026: Two Days To (re)experience The Great Medieval Fairs.

The Medieval Festival of Provins is back for its 41st edition and offers a whole weekend of bygone atmospheres: music, fire, artisans, and costumed parades, perfect for those who love to get lost in the alleys and in time.

A meeting that plays the medieval card.

On June 13 and 14, 2026, the medieval city of Provins, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will take on the atmosphere of a Champagne fair.

For its 41st edition, the event offers a comprehensive reenactment of the famous Champagne Fairs, immersing visitors in medieval daily life and its popular shows.

It's an opportunity to stroll through the alleys, listen to oboes and bagpipes, and be carried away by troubadours and acrobats (yes, there’s always a bit of street magic).

The weekend thread (concrete and practical)

Saturday: opening of the event at 9 AM, inauguration of the Medieval Festival at 11 AM, medieval ball at 5:30 PM, and grand concert of medieval music at 8:30 PM.

Sunday: opening at 9 AM, grand costumed parade at 4 PM, and closing at 6 PM. These appointments structure the weekend, but they are just markers: the essence often lies in the wanderings between two activities.

Artisans, ancient trades, and encampments: the vibrant heart of the festival.

In the alleys and at the foot of the ramparts, genuine medieval encampments welcome the public for workshops and demonstrations.

Pottery, blacksmithing, lutherie, illumination, leatherwork... all these crafts take shape before your eyes. Games, combat demonstrations, and re-enacted scenes of daily life provide a tangible vision of past practices.

In short: not just a show, but action and material (and sometimes a bit of forge dust for the atmosphere).

Shows and highlights (especially for the evening)

The weekend promises highlights: the traditional medieval ball in the Châtel square, the grand concert on Saturday night, and on Sunday, a large-scale costume parade.

The program also features a fire show called "Arcanes," by the Zoolians company: an immersive experience blending pyromancy, Japanese percussion, and modern melodies.

Artistic direction: Willy Vanhonnacker. This cocktail of sounds and flames promises striking visuals (to be seen at dusk, if you enjoy visceral atmospheres).

Some figures to get an idea (without getting lost)

The decorative elements are plentiful: 1,200 bales of straw, 700 meters of burlap, and 300 banners.

The parade will gather 1,000 costumed participants, equivalent to 1.5 km of costumes. On stage and in the organization, over 300 professionals from the entertainment and reenactment sectors will be involved, accompanied by 320 artisans.

The local actors from Provins are also numerous: 1,000 costumed individuals and 38 local associations. For reference, nearly 110,000 festival-goers were welcomed in 2025, a figure that sets the tone without saying too much.

Rates, access and practical information

Rates: €13 for one day, €18 for two days. Children under 12 years old: free. People in costume benefit from specific rates: €9 (1 day) or €12 (2 days).

The ticket grants access to all street performances, except for permanent shows and paid monuments. In terms of access, Provins is indicated as being 1 hour from Paris (80 km southeast) and served by line P from Paris Gare de l'Est.

Bus connections are also mentioned from Melun (line 7704) and from Chessy, Marne-la-Vallée (line 7705). For information and pre-sales, the mentioned website is www.provins-medievales.com, and a contact phone number is provided at 01 64 00 39 39, with a contact email address at [email protected].

Our favorite: fire and music

Among the proposals, the fire show by Zoolians, titled "Arcanes," stands out for its unique approach: pyromancy accompanied by Japanese percussion and contemporary melodies.

It's the kind of performance that transforms a square into a dramatic landscape, blending thrill and visual beauty. Not to be missed if you enjoy intense atmospheres (and if you're equipped for the evening's brightness).

Note Well

Oriflammes: large decorative banners often used to mark the identity of a group or to dress up a festive space.
Medieval camp: reconstruction of habitat and military and daily activities, often featuring tents, workshops, and demonstrations of ancient techniques.

In conclusion

The Medieval Festival of Provins offers a packed weekend, alternating between shows, crafts, and historical reenactments. It’s an easy outing to share with family or friends, filled with spectacular moments (concerts, dances, parades, fireworks).

If the idea appeals to you, check the practical details and booking arrangements, and consider preparing a costume if you feel like blending in with the parade.
