Contact Sheets: The Deauville Photography Festival
During the Planches Contact festival, Deauville and its photogenic beach attract photographers from all over the world. Since 2010, this festival has been showcasing young talents and contributing to enriching Deauville's photographic heritage.
Presentation of this festival
Planches Contact is a contemporary photography festival that takes place every year in Deauville.
Since its creation in 2010, this event has set four objectives:
• Invite photographers to focus their gaze on Deauville in order to create a photographic heritage.
• Support young talents through residencies and a photography prize awarded by a jury of professionals.
• Share photography with a wide audience through exhibitions, meetings, and a photography competition open to all.
• Build a public collection of photographs taken in Deauville.
Photographers are invited to reside in Deauville with the instruction to correspond their universe and photographic language with one aspect of Deauville.
At the same time and on the same subject, the Louis Roederer Foundation organizes a competition reserved for students from European photography schools.
In addition to the outdoor exhibition held every summer on the Planches, this festival contributes to strengthening the ties between the city and photography since the 1920s.

The Planches Contact festival takes place from October 26th to 29th.
The invited photographers this year are:

- Patrick Le Bescont
- Matt Wilson
- Sidonie Van Den Dries
- Julia Lê
All their photographs will constitute a collection that, year after year, will preserve the photographic memory of the city in the 21st century.
Furthermore, this festival is an opportunity to participate in a free photography workshop on the theme: "Mastering the manual mode of your camera".
