Love 2.0: What Are The Dating Trends In 2022?

Are you single and looking for love on a dating app? But are you sure you're up to date with all the new words that have been coined in recent months? To help you make sense of the love 2.0 jungle, Babbel has deciphered 5 dating trends for 2022.

1- Vaccine compatibility

The Covid-19 epidemic that has disrupted our daily lives for the past two years has not spared the field of dating.

From now on, the vaccination status of love suitors is a selection criterion on dating apps.

The first trend in dating in 2022 is therefore to ask questions about this topic during the first date.

It may not be very romantic, but it's good to know if the person you meet is part of the pro-vaccine or anti-vax crowd and of course if they have received all their doses of Pfizer vaccine or Moderna.

2- The astrologer

If vaccine compatibility is a novelty in the field of dating, other older methods are still popular in 2022.

According to Babbel, the language learning platform, this is the case with astrology, i.e. using astrology to find the perfect partner.

This method, which is very popular with 18-25 year olds, consists of looking for a love match based on the signs of the zodiac.

Astrology is definitely the second trend in dating in 2022 because, in this age group, many romance suitors believe that their love story is already written in the stars.

In their search for the perfect partner, a bad astrological sign is reason enough to swipe left!

3- Slow dating

Since 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way we look at each other and dating.

That's why the third dating trend in 2022 is slow dating (which appeared a few years ago already in opposition to speed dating considered too fast).

As the name suggests, slow dating is about taking your time and getting to know each other and making a connection, before you even decide to meet.

In a time when physical contact with others is limited, this trend allows you to think about what you really want in a relationship before meeting 'face-to-face'.

Another form of slow dating is meeting singles in a more natural and friendly context than a mobile app, such as during an event like an Aperitif or a cooking workshop specifically organized to facilitate romantic encounters.

4- Outsourcing

If you're taking your first steps on a new dating app, you might want to follow this other 2022 dating trend called outsourcing.

Outsourcing involves letting a loved one fill out your profile for you on a dating app.

Indeed, we are not the best judge of our qualities and flaws. Out of shyness and/or fear of taking the plunge, we often hesitate to introduce ourselves and put ourselves forward.

If you are faced with this problem, it is easier to let someone else do it, preferably a friend who knows you well and who will be able to highlight your best profile.

5- Pet fishing

Finally, one last trick that might help you look good on dating apps is fart fishing.

This other dating trend in 2022 involves posing in photos with your pet(s) to appear more attractive.

Choosing a profile picture where the you show up with your dog (or even your hamster!) is a good way to appear as a sweet, endearing and responsible person.

With Valentine's Day just a few days away, I hope this deciphering of the love vocabulary 2 .0 will be helpful in approaching the world of dating, seduction and romantic relationships without making any missteps.
