Photo Exhibition: Sacha Goldberger Exhibits His Crossed Portraits In Nice

Do you remember the Mamika series that photographer Sacha Goldberger dedicated to his grandmother? After this first series that revealed him in France, this photographer has multiplied projects where the art of portraiture is renewed with humor. In 2021, he has thus imagined Crossed Portraits which will be exhibited in early 2023 on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. In these portraits, personalities from various backgrounds embody great cultural figures, real... or fictional! Will you be able to recognize who is hiding under the features of Charlie or the Mona Lisa?

A photographer with an offbeat style

Already in 2012, we told you about the French photographer Sacha Goldberger on gralon.net on the occasion of the Super Mamika exhibition at Bercy Village... It's been more than ten years that this photographer reinvents the art of portraiture by making series of photos worthy of film productions.

After being revealed in France with Mamika (the series he dedicated to his nonagenarian grandmother), the photographer had fun mixing eras by using costumes and settings full of history for the Super Flemish series. In this series, he imagined portraits of superheroes in the manner of the great paintings of 16th-century Flemish art.

With his quirky and always humorous eye, this French artist has published several books of photographs and has exhibited in many cities from Paris to New Delhi via London, New York and Rio de Janeiro!

In 2021, he won the Ministry of Culture's 1 building, 1 work award with his Les Compagnons Renaissance project. Never short of ideas, he is preparing a new series on feminism through the prism... of Alfred Hitchcock's films!

Crossed portraits that will amuse you

Crossed Portraits is a series of photographs by Sacha Goldberger that was born from a zany idea: to transform personalities from diverse backgrounds (stars of cinema, song, theater or literature) into iconic figures of culture.

In this series, which will be exhibited on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice at the beginning of 2023, real or fictional, current or historical characters are embodied by personalities you know... Can you recognize them under their Princess Leia, Super Mario or Charlie Chaplin disguise?

The 38 photos that make up this series were taken in 2021 and form a gallery of often funny and sometimes moving portraits. Through these images, the artist wanted to pay homage to artistic diversity and the mix of cultures.
