Oral Hygiene: 5 New Products To Discover

Among the new products in the hygiene and health department, some will make you smile again! Several innovations have appeared among toothpastes and accessories for oral hygiene. We have selected 5 new products to discover to take care of your teeth.

1- Toothpastes with new tastes

Forget mint or bubblegum flavored toothpastes! The new toothpaste flavors are much more original with formulas with cinnamon, matcha tea or even flowers like orange blossom or jasmine.

The brand Officine Universelle Buly has even developed even more refined scents that will make you want to brush your teeth: orange-ginger-clove or mint-coriander-cucumber!

This is the first of 5 new products to discover in the oral hygiene department, provided you're willing to pay the price. For these luxuriously scented toothpastes you have to shell out between €10 and €20...

2- More natural formulas

Still in the toothpaste department, it's not just the taste that's changing. Toothpaste is now considered a care product in its own right.

Brands are increasingly favoring natural ingredients like charcoal, green tea, essential oils and baking soda.

The Smilist brand stands out with formulas containing prebiotics and probiotics as well as enzymes to rebalance the oral microbiota.

The stated goal is to prevent cavities and act on the whiteness of teeth without the need to add fluoride (a component that is now controversial because of the risks of overdosing).

3- More ecological containers

There's also something new to discover on the container side, as toothpaste brands are increasingly playing the green card. Since a traditional toothpaste uses plastic packaging that is nearly impossible to recycle, oral care manufacturers are planning on more sustainable alternatives.

Luxury brands like Buly, Marvis or Lebon and organic brands like Les Petits Prodiges and Le Tube have opted for pure aluminum tubes that can be recycled over and over again.

For its part, the Elgydium brand has launched a toothpaste in a flexible pouch similar to a compote gourd. This gourd format reduces the amount of plastic used by half (eco-designed and organic toothpaste with 99% naturally derived ingredients, €5.95 per 100 ml).

As for other brands, they offer refillable jars such as glass bottles at What Matters and jars containing toothpaste tablets at 900.care.

The most unusual forms of toothpaste are to be found on the side of natural and organic brands pioneers of zero waste: they offer solid toothpastes in the form of lozenges to be dissolved in water or chewed, powder to be emulsified, block in a jar or nomadic stick!

4- Revamped manual toothbrushes

Among the 5 new things to check out in the oral hygiene department, it's also worth noting that the design of manual toothbrushes has changed a lot in a few years.

Some sport beautiful colors created by the Pantone company (Inava x Pantone toothbrush, available in 4 colors, €4.70).

Other models are meant to be more eco-friendly. After the partly compostable bamboo brushes, you can now find many interchangeable head brushes at Lamazuna, Monoprix or Fluocaril. This solution helps limit waste especially since partnerships have been set up with TerraCycle to recycle the heads of these more sustainable toothbrushes.

Some brands go even further in their ecological approach by offering handles made of bioplastic or overcycled material such as cork from corks (Edith toothbrush from the brand Bioseptyl 9,99 € the pack containing 1 handle + 2 heads).

5- Electric toothbrushes are becoming more and more high-tech

Electric toothbrushes are becoming more and more technical, and they also have their share of innovations.

Some models claim a brushing up to 20 times more efficient than with a manual brush thanks to sonic or rotating vibrations. But of course, this efficiency comes at a price... which can go up to about €300!

Among the most promising new products in terms of oral hygiene, we will especially remember the promise of a brushing in 20 seconds on the clock with the NylonStart brush from Y-Brush.

Its Y-shaped head resembles a gutter and allows you to clean all your teeth at the same time! The main advantage is to drastically reduce the brushing time from the regulatory 3 minutes to 20 seconds.

This model, developed with dentists, costs 79 € and is an innovation to follow closely.
