From the medieval period, when the town was protected by a fortress and ramparts, only the fortifications that surrounded the old castle remain.

The Tour Guillaume, which dates from the 13th to 16th centuries, was once included in the town's fortifications. It is named after the illustrious theologian, Guillaume de Saint-Amour (c1200-1272), a local child who bequeathed his fortune to the poor and was one of the founders of the Hôtel-Dieu.

To explore the village hand in hand, note that a pedestrian tour is available at the Tourist Office. It will allow you to admire the hidden treasures of the village (mullioned windows, sculpted and moulded pediments, statuettes, niches...) and its unmissable monuments.

Don't miss the Old Royal Prisons Dating from 1741 and the Apothecary's which houses an astonishing collection of jars, jugs, pitchers and flasks from the 16th, 18th and 19th centuries.
