Christmas In Sanary-sur-mer: A Magical Experience

Every year, the town of Sanary-sur-Mer in the Var illuminates itself for the holidays with its 'Chœurs de lumière' event. The streets, but also the port and the points are dressed in magical lights and many activities are organized for young and old. From the end of November to the beginning of January, thousands of visitors come to soak up the Christmas atmosphere in Sanary-sur-Mer.

A must-see destination for the holidays

Located only a few kilometers from Toulon in the Var, Sanary-sur-Mer is the perfect place to spend a few days of vacation during the holiday season.

Covid 19 obliges, some Christmas animations have been cancelled for the 2020-2021 edition of 'Chœurs de lumière'. Thus, there is no parade, no fireworks or music in Sanary this year, unlike last year.

On the other hand, the beautifully decorated harbour for Christmas continues to attract thousands of visitors to the town.

Wonderful illuminations

The illuminated pointus of Sanary-sur-Mer are one of the most beautiful animations to see in the region during the end of year celebrations.

The port of Sanary, always very pleasant and very popular with walkers, puts on its most beautiful finery during the 'Chœurs de lumière' event.

Adorned with garlands of light, the traditional 'pointus' are transformed into magical boats.

This unique show in France is enough to attract thousands of visitors every late afternoon.

Thus, despite the sanitary restrictions, the good mood and the magic of Christmas continue to reign on the port and in the pedestrian streets.

The forests of fir trees are maintained, as are the illuminations all over the town centre.

The Christmas enchantment in the streets

The town of Sanary-sur-Mer is worth a visit during the holidays, for a weekend or more, for its Christmas lights but also for its decorations in the streets and shops.

Among the decorations most appreciated by walkers, we must of course mention automata bubbles where cheerful characters come to life under the amazed gaze of small and large children!

In 2020-2021, Christmas entertainment takes over the city from 27 November 2020 to 4 January 2021.

You will be able to discover Christmas cribs at the Saint-Nazaire church and the Médiathèque J. Duhamel as well as a life-size crib, Place du Chanoine Arnaldi.

Santa Claus and his sleigh will be waiting for you at Place Arnaud Beltrame and more than 500 shops will be open to help you prepare for the holidays and spoil your loved ones.

Note: in Sanary, parking lots are offered by the municipality on certain days in December to encourage visitors to shop in local businesses.

Between shopping, entertainment and lights galore, Christmas in Sanary-sur-Mer is truly magical!
