For the first time in Paris, a major exhibition is dedicated to the American photographer Steve McCurry. If you were touched by the portrait of the young Afghan girl or by other images of this great photojournalist, don't miss the exhibition The World of Steve McCurry to be discovered at the Maillol Museum until May 29, 2022.
Steve McCurry was born in Philadelphia in 1950. He made his name with a photo essay in Afghanistan in 1979.
His portrait of the green-eyed Afghan girl is known around the world. But he is also the author of many other striking images he has taken around the world.
In his 40-year career, he has travelled the world and built up a body of work that goes far beyond the boundaries of photojournalism.
He is now recognized as one of the greatest names in contemporary photography for his sense of color and light.
This major new retrospective retraces 40 years of the American photographer's career.
Some of his images have been seen around the world and have left a lasting impression thanks to their immediate emotional impact.
In addition to these must-see shots, photography lovers will be able to discover unpublished images, which are either his most recent work or photos that the artist had never before unveiled.
But regardless of when or where these images were taken, visitors will be able to see that the photographer always puts the human at the center of the image, even when his presence is only hinted at.
From the United States to Southeast Asia, via Brazil, Cuba, Africa, Italy, Afghanistan and India, this exhibition offers a true world tour in images and, above all, an emotional exploration of Steve McCurry's world.
The World of Steve McCurry exhibition runs from December 9, 2021 to May 29, 2022 at the Musée Maillol in Paris.
