From June 12 to September 14, 2025, the International Sports Photography Festival takes over Gruissan, a charming seaside resort in Aude. Following a successful inaugural edition in 2024, the event returns with an enriched program, combining open-air exhibitions, international competitions, and meetings with renowned professionals.
An open-air art gallery
The heart of the festival will beat in the Bois de l’Étang, which for the occasion will be transformed into an open-air art gallery. Six thematic galleries will present 150 large-format photographs, capturing the essence of sport through action scenes, emotional moments, and unusual instances. Among the flagship exhibitions, "Faces of Rugby" will offer an immersion into the world of rugby through striking portraits.
An International Contest of Renown
The international sports photography contest, a mainstay of the festival, brought together nearly 450 photographers from 52 countries in 2024, with over 3,000 photos submitted. The winners, selected by a jury of experts, were honored at a ceremony on November 22, 2024, at the Pierre Richard cinema in Gruissan. The Grand Prize was awarded to a photograph capturing a surfer suspended between sky and sea, symbolizing the lightness and power of sport.
Encounters and Workshops for Everyone
The festival is not limited to exhibitions. Encounters with professional photographers, shooting workshops, portfolio readings, and masterclasses will be offered throughout the event. These moments of exchange will allow the public to discover the behind-the-scenes of sports photography and to deepen their passion.
2025 Edition
The 3rd edition of the Sportfolio Festival is taking place in Narbonne from May 27 to June 19, 2016.
The winners of the 2016 photo contest were announced on May 27, 2016, during the award ceremony in the presence of the jury chaired by Jean-François Leroy (the founder and director of the Visa pour l'image international photojournalism festival in Perpignan).
Gruissan, the ideal setting for sports photography
With its varied landscapes, between sea, ponds, and pine forests, Gruissan offers an idyllic setting to celebrate sports photography. The Barberousse Tower, emblem of the city, and the Chalets beach, made famous by the film "37°2 le matin", will serve as the backdrop for this unique event.
