The Monte-carlo Television Festival: An Unmissable Event

Since its creation in 1961, the Monte-Carlo Television Festival has become the unmissable event for television professionals. Each year, this competition awards the Golden Nymphs to the best television programs in the world and their creators.

Presentation

The Monte-Carlo Television Festival was created in 1961 by Prince Rainier III of Monaco in order to 'encourage a new form of artistic expression in the service of peace and understanding between men'.

This event brings together every year in June eminent television personalities from all over the world in the Principality of Monaco.

In addition to the numerous previews, galas and receptions organized by the major networks and studios, various prizes are awarded during the festival to reward the best professionals of the small screen.

The Golden Nymphs

During the Monte Carlo Television Festival, the best television programs from around the world are awarded with the Golden Nymphs.

These golden statuettes reproduce the nymph Salmacis, the work of Monegasque sculptor François-Joseph Bosio, the original of which is on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

They reward the winners for 'Best International Producer', 'Best European Producer', 'Best Male Performer' and 'Best Female Performer'.

The International Documentary Grand Prix

The Grand Prix International du documentaire d'auteur has been organized every year since 1981 by URTI (the International Radio and Television University) in the prestigious setting of the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

This prize rewards documentaries that stand out for their choice of subject and technical research in cultural or social fields.

The winner of the Grand Prix International du Documentaire receives the ARMAN trophy, created by this world-renowned sculptor. Silver and bronze medals are also awarded to the second and third prizes.
