Harry Potter Series: 5 Things To Know About This Tv Adaptation.

This is big news in the world of wizards and Muggles: the Harry Potter saga will soon be adapted for the first time into a TV series by Warner! For all those who can't wait to relive the adventures of the most famous wizard on the small screen, here are 5 things to know about this highly anticipated adaptation.

"The Harry Potter series will be broadcasted on Max."

As soon as the announcement was confirmed, Potterheads around the world were in a frenzy. One can easily imagine how eager fans of J.K. Rowling's saga are to discover the Harry Potter series!

But they will still have to wait and subscribe to a platform to discover the television version of the adventures of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, with a brand new cast to play the characters from the original saga.

This TV series will indeed be broadcast on Max, the new name for HBO Max. This platform has not only changed its name, but now also hosts HBO Originals, Warner Bros films, Max Originals, Discovery+, the DC universe, and soon the magical world of Harry Potter!

Currently only available in the United States, this new streaming platform should arrive in France in the fall of 2024, giving French fans plenty of time to discover this television adaptation as well.

2- She won't be available for several years.

Despite the eagerness of fans to return to their first year at Hogwarts, the Harry Potter series is not expected to arrive on screens until 2025 or 2026. Currently, no release date has been announced. The only thing officially confirmed by David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, is the preparation for this adaptation. However, there is other news that should help Potterheads wait: the open-world video game Hogwarts Legacy will be released on Nintendo Switch on July 25, 2023!

3- This adaptation will respect the plot of the seven books in the saga.

If you're a fan of this 7-book literary saga, you may be worried about the fidelity of the adaptation that will be made for the small screen... In its announcement, the Max platform wanted to reassure fans by stating: "The stories of each of Rowling's Harry Potter books will become a series spanning a decade, produced with the same epic artistry, love, and care that made this global franchise famous." To drive the point home, the official presentation specifies: "Each season will be faithful to the original books and will introduce Harry Potter and his incredible adventures to new audiences around the world." This sentence suggests that the series will have at least 7 different seasons.

4- J.K. Rowling is involved in the project as an executive producer.

The participation of author J.K. Rowling as an executive producer is an additional guarantee of seriousness for fans. Regarding this television adaptation, the writer stated: "Max's commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me and I am looking forward to participating in this new adaptation that will allow a degree of depth and detail that only a long-running television series can offer."

The book's author will therefore have a certain degree of creative control over this television series, but she will not be the director or creator of this fiction.

5- The casting will be decisive for the success of this new adaptation.

As with the big screen adaptation that began in 2001 with Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Emma Watson as Hermione, and Rupert Grint as Ron, the choice of actors will be crucial for fans of the saga to embrace this new version.

Since season 1 will correspond to the first book and retell the story from the beginning, the TV series will have to rely on a host of child actors, hoping that they will still be able and willing to participate in this adaptation several years after filming begins.

With a universe as vast as the wizarding world, this project will span many seasons and many years.

The TV series format should allow for further development of secondary characters and reference all the details from the books that could not be included in the film saga due to time constraints.

Because it will have several dozen episodes, this series should be much more faithful to J.K. Rowling's original work, much to the delight of longtime fans!
