The Bourdaisière Tomato Festival: The Meeting Place For Gourmet Gardeners

For more than ten years, gourmets and gardening enthusiasts have been meeting at the Château de la Bourdaisière, in the Loire Valley, to participate in the Tomato Festival. Each year, nearly 8000 visitors come to rediscover a fruit they thought they knew...

An unusual and gourmet festival

The Tomato Festival invites ever-increasing numbers of visitors to discover the gastronomy of the tomato, its growing methods and the extraordinary diversity of its varieties.

This festival combining gastronomy, Gardening and unusual discoveries is held the second weekend of September at the Château de la Bourdaisère.
It brings together some forty exhibitors who present and sell their products... around the tomato, of course!

To note: the Château de la bourdaisière has a conservatory vegetable garden that was created in 1998 by Louis Albert de Broglie and now has some 650 varieties of tomatoes. An impressive collection, even though scientists estimate that there are 12,000 varieties of tomato in existence throughout the world!
