The Chocolate Coffee Cake: A Gourmet Recipe

Anyone who loves the combination of cocoa and espresso will love this chocolate coffee cake. Easy to prepare with cocoa powder and instant coffee, this full-bodied cake with dark chocolate chips is a real treat.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients needed to make a chocolate coffee cake for 4 people:

100 g soft butter
110 g of sugar
2 eggs
85 g of flour
4 level tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons of soluble coffee
2 tablespoons of warm water
1 pinch of salt
60 g chocolate 85% cocoa

To note: to make the chocolate chips, you can also use coffee-flavored chocolate to the delight of espresso addicts.

Preparation of the dough

1- Take the butter out of the refrigerator in advance so that it is soft or put it in the microwave for one minute.

2- Whip the butter with the sugar until it becomes a cream.

3- Add the whole eggs and whisk them in.

4- Sift in the flour and cocoa and add a pinch of salt.

5- Dilute the instant coffee in 2 tablespoons of warm water before adding it to the batter.

To note: if you want to avoid caffeine, you can adapt this chocolate coffee cake recipe by replacing the instant coffee with a chicory-based substitute. If you don't have instant coffee, you can also replace this ingredient with 2 teaspoons of coffee extract (sold in the pastry section of the supermarket).

Preparation of the nuggets

To make this chocolate coffee cake even fuller, I used 85% cocoa chocolate.

1- Butter a 20 cm diameter cake tin.

2- Cut the chocolate into small chips.

3- Pour the cake batter into the pan and cover the top of the cake with chocolate chips.

Baking the cake

1- Preheat your oven to 170°C.

2- Bake the chocolate coffee cake for 25 minutes.

3- Serve it warm or cold.
