The ISTS is a training center for the performing arts. It was created in 1986 to meet the training needs of the technicians of the Avignon Festival. Today, this professional training establishment has seen its missions extended to the whole territory and abroad.
The Institut Supérieur des Techniques du Spectacle or ISTS located in Avignon is a continuing education center for professionals in the performing arts.
Created in Avignon in 1986, this institute has seen its missions extended to the whole territory and abroad. It is now under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, the PACA Region and the city of Avignon.
In addition to training, the ISTS offers entertainment professionals, local authorities and national institutions a consulting service for the design or implementation of projects. It participates in European projects and has a solid experience of cooperation relations.
The ISTS training courses are aimed at all those who wish to improve or qualify in the theater professions and, more broadly, in the entertainment industry.
Each season, the Institut Supérieur des Techniques du Spectacle offers a new program of original training courses in the techniques of live performance:
- Management training (stage manager, technical director, head stagehand, etc.)
- Machinery
- Drawing
- Safety / prevention
- Electricity
- Lighting
- Sound
- Video
To date, the institute delivers three titles registered in the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles and accessible through the VAE (validation of acquired experience):
- Technical director of performing arts companies (level I qualification)
- Stage manager (level III qualification)
- Head stagehand for live performances (level III qualification).
Since 1994, the ISTS has been located in the Saint Louis cloister and has vast classrooms, a theater workshop equipped with machinery, a sound studio, an electricity workshop, a computer room, a construction initiation workshop and a documentation room.
The Institut Supérieur des Techniques du Spectacle organizes every year, at the Espace Saint Louis, the 'Rencontres Professionnelles' of the Festival d'Avignon in partnership with the Direction of the Festival.
