Matrimoine Days: Honoring Women!

This weekend will take place the Heritage Days. But did you know that 95% of the artistic, architectural and cultural creations visited on this occasion were made by men? That is why, for the first time in 2015, HF Ile-de-France and Osez le féminisme decided to organize a counter-event: the Matrimoine Days! The objective of this alternative event is to highlight the artistic heritage of women.

Rediscover the great artists of yesterday.

For the first time in 2015, the Matrimoine Days take place at the same time as the now famous Heritage Days!

Their goal: to revalue the artistic and historical heritage of women painters, authors, sculptors, etc.

Women artists and intellectuals from past centuries have left us a largely unknown, even ignored heritage.

To make these creators known and promote their works, HF Ile-de-France initiated the "Matrimoine project" in 2014, with the support of the Ile-de-France region and the Equality Mission of the City of Paris.

A website dedicated.

To learn more about the Matrimoine Project, visit the website www.matrimoine.fr (link below).

This website lists artists and creators in various artistic fields (literature, painting, sculpture, photography, cinema, theater, music, dance, architecture and design, object and installation).

It pays tribute to past artists (through biographies and galleries of works) and provides updates on contemporary artists.

You will also find the detailed program of the first Matrimoine Days and be able to download thematic visit itineraries in three Parisian museums:
- Musée d'Orsay
- Centre Georges Pompidou
- Petit Palais - Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris

Edition 2023 -> 2023 Edition

The Matrimoine Days will take place from September 15th to 17th, 2023.

On this occasion, a diverse cultural program will include tours, visits, exhibitions, performances, concerts, conferences, readings, and screenings. Assia Djebar will be the emblematic figure, and you will also discover many artists including Françoise d'Eaubonne (feminist and possibly the first ecofeminist), Louise Labé and Louise Colet (poets), Marguerite Moinault (architect), Toni Morrison (American novelist), Séverine (journalist), and anonymous authors of maumariées and work songs.
