The Cornouaille Festival In Quimper: A Concentration Of Breton Culture.

Every year, the Cornouaille festival in Quimper celebrates Breton culture. The program includes concerts, dances, songs, and Celtic arts, not to mention live performances in traditional costumes.

Presentation of the festival

The Cornouaille Festival, which officially began in 1981, is the heir to a long festive tradition dating back to... 1923!

In the 1950s, what was still called "the Festivals of Cornouaille" already constituted the first Breton cultural event and one of the most important in Europe.

Even today, the Quimper festival is a must-attend event for all lovers of Breton culture! It attracts an average of 230,000 visitors each year.

This event cultivates the paradox of being resolutely focused on the future while perpetuating this culture and its traditions such as embroidery or Breton dances.

Edition 2023 - Translation: 2023 Edition

The Cornouaille Festival in Quimper takes place from July 19th to July 23rd, 2023.
The Festival is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year!
It offers six days of celebration in the heart of Quimper, with around 180 concerts, shows, and activities. It is actually the largest festival dedicated to Breton culture in France.

As every year, the program is diverse (concerts, dances, songs, Celtic arts, traditional costumes shows...) but it aims to bring the Breton spirit to life.

The Saint Corentin Space will be filled with free festoù-noz throughout the week, celebrating this tradition that is inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List! Every day, both young and old can learn Breton dances.

A large village, "Le Village Gradlon," will be set up on the Place de la Résistance. Throughout the day, sea shanties will be performed there, as well as a food area showcasing local products. This village will also host food-related activities and chef demonstrations.
